District-Wide Purchases

Impact Aid

If your district is impacted by federal government activity, you may be eligible.

If your district is impacted by federal government activity, you may be eligible for Impact Aid. Impact Aid is “a Federal education program that reimburses school districts for the lost revenue and additional costs associated with the presence of nontaxable Federal property.” Examples of this include:

  • Military installations
  • Indian Trust, Treaty and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Lands
  • Federal low-rent housing facilities
  • Federal properties such as national parks and Army Corps of Engineers projects and Federal facilities such as national laboratories and VA hospitals

Title I, Part A

Raise Achievement Levels

Title I Part A funds are primarily for school-level programming to raise achievement levels of students who are not meeting state academic standards in schools with a high population of low-income students.

Securing Title I Part A funds requires submission of a Schoolwide Plan and Target Assistance Plan.

  • Host summative assessments connected to standards-based rubrics.
  • Improving outcomes for disadvantaged students and districts.

Title II, Part A

Professional Development

Title II-A is the only federal funding source dedicated to professional learning for teachers and leaders, providing over $2 billion per year to states and districts to implement effective instruction through preparation, recruitment, and development of educators.

Extempore Alignment:

  • District-wide trainings and onboarding
  • In-person or virtual PD sessions
  • Extempore refreshers

Title III

Helping English Language Learners

Title III funds are federal funds designated for English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement, and Academic Achievement.

Extempore Alignment:

  • Development and improvement of academic programs
  • Educational materials including distance education technologies
  • Program designed to improve academic success including English language instruction
  • Exam preparation for ELLs

Title IV, Part A

Improving achievement through holistic education and technology

There is a specific provision in Title IV, Part A funding that supports “activities to support well-rounded educational opportunities,” which includes instruction in Foreign Languages.

State Grants and Allocations

Information on state resources for funding can sometimes be hard to find. We recommend contacting your states World Language Organization or, if applicable, World Language supervisors at the state government level who will likely know what funding is available.

Philanthropy

  • Local businesses may be interested in supporting schools in their community. Many larger businesses have a philanthropic arm that they may be willing to yield.
  • One way to go about this would be to compose a sample funding request letter that your district can send to companies. Share this with your district coordinator and outline what funds you are asking for and why.
